Global Design Project #309 | Color Challenge

This weeks Global Design Project is a colour challenge!! Basic Black, Basic White and any other colour - heaven!! Black and White? Easy my first thought was the Birch background stamp it looks amazing stamped in black, on white.

So we have the basic card but, we have 50 other colours with Stampin' Up! I knew I wanted some detailed butterflies from the Brilliant Wings Dies - but which colour to use??
When I'm designing cards I look for a theme, as I look out of my craft room window I am aware of the first signs of autumn, a few leaves on the ground a cool fresh breeze blowing in, thinking of golds and browns, Halloween and Pumpkins!! So Pumpkin Pie it is!!

The full on Pumpkin Pie looked a little stark against the the black and white so I decided to cut the butterflies in Basic White and colour them using a blending brush to give a much softer effect. I graduated the ink using more on the edges of the wings to give a darker shade.

I still felt the lump of Pumpkin Pie looked harsh so I decided to stamp the sentiment in Pumpkin Pie on Basic White and cut it out using a die from the Hippo and Friends set. On the other hand I felt the butterflies looked a bit bland so I coloured their bodies and antennae using the Light Pumpkin Pie Blend.

Done?? No of course not we needed some bling, but we can only use one colour!! Step up some Clear Elegant Faceted Gems!!
